About the college:
PSG COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY
An ISO 9001:2000 certified institution is one of the foremost institutions established by the PSG & Sons’ charities Trust (1926). Started in 1951, it has been recognized worldwide for quality engineering education. The College has been granted autonomy status since the year 1978. The college is located in the same campus as PSG Industrial Institute facilitating students to get real time exposure to industrial practice. PSG College of Technology won the diamond award for overall best industry linked engineering institutes category on 08th Nov, 2012; in first-ever survey of industry linked engineering institutes undertaken jointly by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).

Department of Production Engineering:
As manufacturing activities play a major role in the development of the country, PSG College of technology envisaged the need for trained manpower in manufacturing and thus the undergraduate programme in Production Engineering was started in the year 1975. The programme has been accredited for five years in the year 2012, which is the best ranking offered for a BE programme by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The department offers consultancy in manufacturing processes, design and testing a wide range of products, including product styling.

PSG – JANATICS CENTRE FOR PNEUMATICS AND AUTOMATION:
Department of Production Engineering in collaboration with M/s. Janatics India Private Limited has started the Centre for Pneumatics and Automation at PSG College of Technology in March 2014. The training centre includes training kits for pneumatic automation, latest sensor kits (hardware and software), data acquisition and interfacing systems for online monitoring and control of processes. This centre provides a wide scope for project assignments and help students to build hybrid systems by integrating important automation technologies such as Pneumatics, PLC and Mechatronics. In addition to hardware equipments, latest softwares offer simulation and analysis functionalities in a user-friendly environment. The beneficiaries of the training centre are the end users of the automation technologies provided by the company. The major objectives of the training centre is to provide basic hands-on training in automation and sensor technology, to inculcate the ability to formulate industrial problems related to automation and control systems, to work on industrial projects and to develop in-house solutions/products for interfacing of machines and sensors in collaboration with the industry and patent them.
